PTP is an advanced ballet technique program for pre-professional dancers. The program emphasizes complex movement sequences, ensemble awareness, classical repertory, advanced pointe technique, and men's combinations. Ballet classes include technical influences from the Russian, French, Danish, and American styles. Dancers trained in pointe technique for more than five years are encouraged to wear pointe shoes for barre and/or centre work.
Disciplines include:
● Ballet
● Pointe
● Men’s technique
● Classical and contemporary repertoire
● Pas de deux
● Variations
● Contemporary
● Modern
● Improvisation technique
● Ballet fitness
Learning objectives include gaining a deeper understanding of classical ballet and contemporary techniques while working at a pre-professional level. Focus includes transition steps, syncopation, musicality, proper placement, execution of steps, and the carriage and coordination of the port de bras. Dancers in the PTP level increase their strength in jumps and turns with attention to speed, height, and accuracy while using their technique as a foundation to express artistry, musicality, fluidity of movement, and overall performance quality.
Professional Training Program students are required to attend 5 days per week. Classes offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Saturday. Students in PTP are strongly encouraged to participate and audition for Terminus Student Company to add in additional training hours and rehearsals. If you are new to Terminus, one Free Trial class is offered on Tuesday for ballet and pointe. Please follow the advice under Placement. This class will participate in the Spring Showcase at the conclusion of the school year.
** PTP students have the opportunity to audition for Terminus Student Company giving them the enriching experience of performance and additional training hours.
Every student progresses at their own pace; please note the suggested age range for classes. A student may place in a more appropriate level for their skill level rather than age.
To best find the level that fits, an evaluation is recommended and required for Levels 2-PTP.
Registration opens for all levels on May 1, 2023. Student Program Level 1 will have open enrollment through Dance Studio Pro. Follow the link to create your account and sign up for classes. If you are unsure of level placement, please fill out our placement request form.
